If enabled by your employer, you may choose to give to a non-profit. This page covers the steps for how to search for a non-profit and what to do if you can't find the one your looking for.
To get to the non-profit search page, first sign into PTO Exchange and from the dashboard click on "Giving". This will take you to the non-profit search page.
The non-profit database can be searched by clicking into the "Find a nonprofit" box and typing the formal organization name or Federal Tax ID/EIN as listed in the IRS database. Many non-profits have similar names so it is best to verify the Tax ID/EIN of the organization you wish to donate to and then search by that.
If you can’t find the non-profit you’re looking for, try the following:
Does the non-profit have a formal name?
Look at their website and see if it’s listed or call them to find out.
Is the non-profit affiliated with a larger organization? Some organizations have local affiliates or satellites that operate under the same Tax ID/EIN as their larger counterpart. This is common practice for churches, schools and other satellite organizations. To make a donation to these types of organizations, search for the affiliated organization name and leave a message in the note section of your donation form to earmark this for your local affiliate or satellite.
Do you know the non-profit Federal Tax ID or EIN? The Tax ID/EIN is a 9 digit number, usually formatted with a dash after the second digit, that all non-profit organizations are issued (Example: 91-0564748). It can usually be found on an organizations website, usually on their donation/giving page. Type that into the search bar and see if it can be located in our database that way. It is always best to verify the Tax ID/EIN of the organization you wish to donate to anyway, just to ensure you have selected the correct one since many organizations have similar sounding names.
The IRS does not require churches and some school organizations to register. Many school organizations and churches are not it in our database since they are not required to file with the IRS. If you can't find the one you are looking for, send us a request to add the nonprofit to our database.
Still having trouble? Call the non-profit directly and ask for their registered name and Federal Tax ID/EIN. Using that information, try to searching our database again. If you still can't find the organization in our system, then open a support ticket and let us know that you can't find a non-profit that should be in the database along with the non-profit's name and Tax ID/EIN. We will do our best to figure out why it isn't showing up.
